Mary's February Challenge

FEBRUARY CHALLENGE ~ THE MONTH OF LOVE

Seeing February is the month of Love I would like to see Hearts and journalling on your page this month.
And now I would like to introduce you to our GD , the queen of fussy cutting and creating beautiful pages  the lovely Lizzy Crust

Hi I am Lizzy Crust and I have been scrapbooking since 2006. I began creating pages for my youngest daughter
to show her the things she did when she was little.. Over time I found the world of scrapping in the internet and then
online challenges which I enjoy being involved in as much as time allows..I began my blog called Crumbs of Creativity
and just love visiting the many scrappy friends I have found.. My style is still evolving but I love flowers and layers.
Thanks so much for having me as a guest on Orange Paperie this month!

Lizzy was also kind enough to answer some questions for me

Where do I scrap?
I am lucky to have a vacated bedroom that I have claimed for my scrap room.. I have our old dining room table in there and have purchased various cupboards which I use for storage of my papers and tools etc.

Do I consider I have a certain style and if so how do I describe it?
I am still evolving in my style and am inspired to try new techniques in my creating, however I do like using sketches, building layers and using flowers. I tend also to use the whole page and find leaving white space a challenge. I think the photo I am scrapping can influence how I create also in that for a female photo there will be  floral elements and for a male photo there will be masculine colors and embellishments and no flowers or minimal flowers.

How long have I been scrapping and how did I get introduced to scrapbooking?
I formally began scrapbooking in January 2006 which is when I bought some papers and embellishments  from a Scrapbooking shop that I had been taken to by my friend Marlene. It was after seeing all the papers and the whole range of wonderful things to create with that got me hooked I think.. I wanted to keep the memories of my youngest daughter growing up in our family and this was a continuation of a book I had started several years earlier due to the process we went through with adopting her.

What is my favourite product/tool?
I have many favourite things I like to use with scrapbooking, but I think my big shot die cutting machine would be my number one tool in that I use because I use it  when creating cards and also for layouts. My punches would come in a close second.

Why do I scrap - what does it mean to me?
Just like my styles have evolved with time and the skills I have acquired, my reasons why I scrap have changed too.. In the beginning it was all about capturing the memory of a photo and telling the story behind the moment, now I think I create for the relaxation and enjoyment as much for the memory of the photo..  I like to try different things and am influenced by the trends around that I see. Scrapbooking is an outlet for creativity as well as a time out for me and therapy to help with the stresses of life which we all have from time to time.. It is "ME" time. And the results are there are albums for my children to look through and hopefully admire and remember the moments of times past.

What inspires me?
Everything! The photo, new papers, new products, clothing, trends, other scrapbookers, an idea that comes into my head, a new technique I see, online challenges, sketches. I have been known to dress my daughter in the colors I need for the papers I want to use!! It is wonderful to be inspired and just want to sit and create and forget the housework for a while!

Who inspires me?
Everyone.. Each person has something to share and I love popping around on blogs and seeing what is happening on my friends sites. There are too many wonderful scrappers to name here, and I am sure many more I have yet to discover!

Do I need music or do I like it to be quiet?
I tend to create in quietness, although I have sometimes had talk back radio on for a bit of back ground chatter. My creating time is my time out to de-stress and contemplate life and often say a prayer or two for those I know who need them..

and now the gorgeous layout Lizzy created for this months challenge
LOVE

Thank you Lizzy for being our GD for the month and for creating this gorgeous layout.

Now for Cheryl and Jo's beautiful layouts
LOVE
Another month gone by and here I am again with my take on Mary's challenge. The pic is of three of my beautiful grandchildren Jessica, Jake and Libby taken a few months ago. Brady was very antisocial and declined to be in the pic. I have used Kraft Cardstock, corrugated card  swiped with gesso and some old Kaiser papers from the Timeless Collection, a few Kaiser roses and the twine is from Craft Queen . I have inked the edges with Tim Holtz Walnut distress ink and the sentiment was cut using the Cricut

Hoping you all find a bit of time to squeeze this challenge in. Love and hugs to all
Cheryl.

 Love, Germany and Happiness
Hello everyone and welcome to Mary's fabulous February challenge. The theme is LOVE so she wants to see hearts and journalling.  We had a fantastic response to our January Challenge, so keep up the good work people and we can't wait to see what you have in store for us this month. We really appreciate your support. Here is my design for this month. I decided not to use the traditional red tones for my page so I hope you can find some inspiration in it. We are looking forward to seeing your wonderful creations!
