More designs for our May Challenge!

Hello, Jo here. Just popping in to share with you some more inspo for Cheryl's Challenge. I really hope you get time to join in this month. I love monochromatic and usually find it quite easy, but this time I must admit that I struggled a bit with my choice of colour. In the end I decided to scrap a photo of me and DH at the Ice Bar in Melbourne. This was my birthday and we'd already had a full day but decided to have some more fun by entering the -10 degree bar to see how long we could last (you are only allowed 30mins). We lasted 29mins (thanks to the cocktails) but funnily enough we were the last to leave. Everyone else jumped ship 15mins in - softies! We were having so much fun playing some of the games, using the complimentary photo booth and juggling our "glasses" made of ice that the time really flew, although my nose did feel like it was about to drop off my face by the time we left :) So here is my page about that adventure.

For closies pop on over to my blog HERE

Thanks Cheryl for the fantastic challenge :) I hope you all join in on the fun this month xx

.

Hello there one and all, it's hard to believe that we are well and truly into the Merry Month of May, and......the 5th day to boot!! All a bit hard to handle. However, handle it we must, and.... I am here today to introduce to all you lovelies yet another super talented G.D.T.
This lady's work most of you would be quite familiar with and I for one am a BIG!! fan of hers.
Without further ado, I have the greatest of pleasure to introduce to you ................
MRS HELEN WALLACE!!!

Here is what Helen has to tell us about herself.
"I started scrapping  around 12 years ago when I decided to make an album for our oldest son's birthday. Little did I know it would become a daily obsession and require a studio to house all my stash.
Scrapbooking is my magnificent obsession, I am addicted to all aspects of this craft. I love to try new techniques and styles whilst keeping the focus on the photo's and stories. I have a wonderful partner who supports and encourages my need to create art and tell stories. Family and travel are most often the subjects of my pages.
I am currently on the Design Team at CSI (Colour Stories Inspiration), a role that I love and am challenged and inspired by.
I love everything about scrapbooking. The photo's, the papers, the cardstock, the ribbons, buttons and trims, the mists, paint and stencils. I love the "playing" which allows my inner child to be creative.
It's important to me to pass on the stories of a different era, to put flesh on the bones of my ancestors so that they are much more than just a stern black and white image.
I want my boys to know that their "old cheese" (moi) was once young and gorgeous too, that life is fleeting, so they should find time each day to nurture their spirits.
I've learned to take better photographs to capture the spirit of our grandchildren. Their stories are recorded so they will know how much they are loved and enjoyed by their grandparents.

Scrapbooking fills a hole in my heart that I didn't know existed."

Helen has been published several times and you will find  her latest publication  in SBM Vol15 No8.

Now onto my CHALLENGE for MAY

My challenge for this month is to create a monochromatic layout with lots of "white" space. And here is Helen's take, thanks Helen, it's gorgeous!!

Slow Down

I used various shades of white for my layout and here it is....

The Walk

Hello Mary here, Welcome Helen thank you for joining us this month Beautiful layout as is Cheryl's. Thanks for the cool challenge Cheryl.
I have done a layout of my Hubby when he was a wee lad with his teddy bear which we still have today, no fur left and a button eye, but he was very much loved

Annette will be uploading her take later tonight and then Kim and Jo later in the month. Looking forward to seeing some lovely takes on Cheryl's Challenge

Mary

Well hello again my lovelies, Annette here and wow what gorgeous pages, and Helen so pleased to see you here as our Guest DT.

This is my take on Cheryl's Challenge, a truly gorgeous pic of my newest little great neice, Willow.

Totally loved doing this colour scheme, all the whites and creams with the silver as a highlight. I made the leaves out of canvas and used old edging scissors (who doesn't still have some of those stashed away) to cut them out, gives that nice leafy edge. Beautiful prima flowers, pearl clusters and cute as little buttons are all from CraftQueenhttp://www.craftqueen.com.au/, chippies are from Scrapmatts and lots of other bits i had in my stash.

So looking forward to see what you all do with this challenge, hugs and love until then xo

A different take on our Monthly Challenge

Hiya my lovelies, Annette here with my take on our current challenge.
I decided to think outside the square this time and do a few cards instead of a layout.

On this first one I was inspired by the whole picture and all the bright, beautiful colours, so using washi tape from CraftQueen http://www.craftqueen.com.au/washi-tape/cat_463.html I covered the whole card with different designs. Gorgeous little prima flowers also came from CraftQueen. I added a pearl strand, muslin and lovely lemon ribbon.

Card number two used the tealy blue and yellow from the small pictures on the wall.

From memory I think the pp is Kaisercraft and a Making Memories journal tag cut down. Huge thanks to Kim for the idea for the banner with twine.

Last but not least I used the background colours, cream and touches of black which reminded me of vintage so the card reflected that with punching, lace, ribbon roses with pearl centres, again CraftQueen. I used two stamps in the top right hand corner with different coloured inks.

So there you have it, you can used the pic as you like, how it inspires you.
Looking forward to seeing lots more awesome creations.
Hugs and love till then.
Annette xo

Hi everyone, Cheryl here. What a fabulous challenge this turned out to be, It's just amazing to see such a diverse range of layouts stemming from the one pic!! I love them all ,and without further ado, here is mine. I  got my inspiration from the vintage feel of the pic and from the roses and butterflies on the pic, I used the Kaiser Flora Delight papers to compliment a pic of my Auntie and Uncle on their wedding day in 1945. You can see the punching, but I chose to do my stamp butterflies and fussy cut them, here is a closie....

And..... here is the page.

Exciting things happening at Orange Paperie and a New Challenge

Hello to all our lovely followers Mary here. Well a new month and a new challenge and we are also very happy to have two new DT Members, Cheryl and Jo :) so happy to have them as part of the team.
Also our GD this month is the lovely Belinda Lowe, better known as BB.

A Bit about me -

I am a wife and a mother to 4 children. I live in Toowoomba, QLD and have so for the last 14 years. I am a hairdresser by trade but 4 years ago I decided to study nursing at university, fingers crossed I will finish my degree this year. My husband travels away for work so my life is crazy busy. I started scrap booking about 5 or 6 years ago because my mother decided that she would like to try it and asked if I would help her - mmmmm help, more like take over - I was so much better off doing my own thing. I find scrapping to be a good therapy and I can zone out from the rest of the world when I enter my creative bubble. I have been published several times in Scrap booking Memories and I am currently on design teams for Scrapboxx and Archiscraps, I also do designs for the LSS in Toowoomba called the Scrap Cottage. I have lots more life to live and plenty more stories to tell and scrap booking is the best way to preserve a story to a memory that may otherwise be forgotten. I also love playing soccer and I like to delve into the kitchen and get inspired by recipes. You can visit my blog http://bblowe.blogspot.com for more of my scrapping and also a few recipes thrown in there. Happy Days
BB.

The challenge for the month is inspiration from Pinterest, to interpret anyway you choose. The other DT members have done an amazing job and come up with some fabulous creations.
So here is the challenge , the only other criteria is to add stamping and punching

Firstly here is BB's take on the April Challenge....

My LO - I was inspired by the photo frames and the couch, I immediately thought polaroids and sitting (don't ask me why), I found pics of my younger years when I used to drool over Manpower, I think they took up 3 years of my life in addiction :). I have stamping on the page and also I have punched the holes for the stitching.
and here is my take
Looking forward to seeing what you see in the picture that inspires you, and now for the amazing DT contributions.
Mary x

Great take on the challenge BB and Mary...(pretty hot inspiration, BB!)
Now need to concentrate on adding my lo...(note to self, do not scroll up, AGAIN till finished!!)
Love  hot men....Mary's inspo pic !
Here is my layout

Here is our newest member Jo's take on the challenge

Do hope you get a chance to join us this month.
The Awesome Miss Annette and Talented Miss Cheryl will be adding their creativeness later on this month.....sort of a gentle reminder that the month is moving on.

Again a HUGE thanks BB for being our Fabulous GD for the month of April..finding the time to create for us even though you are so crazy-busy..... you so rock, chickie!!!!..
Have a SUPER weekend.....hope you have a chance to create.

Cheers

March Madness

Hello my lovelies, welcome to Autumn and a new challenge for the month.
We have a really beautiful and talented scrapbooker joining us here as our Guest Designer, so without further ado please make her feel very welcome -

Wendy McLaren

I asked Wendy a few questions and she was gracious enough to give us a little insight into how she started and what scrapping means to her.

How did you get into Scrapbooking?  Like most Scrapbookers I attended a party and did a little "make and take" and was hooked.  It took me a long time to get fully into Scrapbooking as I knew I would love it with a passion and I wanted to make sure I had the time to devote to this craft that it deserves.

What does it mean to me?  When I am Scrapbooking I am in my own little "creative" world and I get so excited when I see a layout coming together.  I love that I can scrap my family, friends and special events in their lives and preserve the same for years to come.  Most recently scrapbooking has become my therapy for making my book about my dear mum of which this layout is a part of.

The challenge for this month is to use hexagonals as well as stamping, I am sure that you will agree that Wendy has done a beautiful page.

About the layout:  The Meg's Garden papers were perfect for this layout and photo.  This is my favourite photo of my mum and myself.  In the layout I have used little coloured wired beads and plastic leaves that are on the doiley frame that belonged to my mum.  Behind the photo is hidden journalling - I asked her once to write down something about me....it was becoming difficult for her to write at this stage and when I was clearing out her little table by her chair I found the tag and on it she had written "I love you" - so precious and all the journalling I needed. The criteria, (hexagons) was a real challenge for me - but I love how this layout turned out.  Thankyou Annette for the opportunity.    x

I love how Wendy has used the hexagon shapes, beautiful flower clusters and gorgeous stamping, the addition of the brad to the butterly looks awesome.

THANKYOU so much Wendy for agreeing to be my Guest Designer for the month mwah.

And now for moi, the beautiful little boy in this page is the first grandson of a work colleague, when I saw the pictures she had of him I really wanted to scrap one (who doesn't love scrapping little bubbas?)
I changed the pic to b&w as he was laying on brown carpet, not a easy colour to do with baby blues.

_______________________________________________________________________

Now the gorgeousness that is Kim has (as some of you would know) been flitting around the first ever Scrapbooking Expo in Melbourne and had her debut as a teacher there, two classes each day of the Expo, so I am sure that we will all understand and give her a little bit more time to have her page up here as soon as she can.

Mary and our newest DT Member Cheryl will have their wonderful creations here very soon.

So for now farewell my lovelies and looking forward to seeing your take on MY Challenge, hugs and love Annette xo

Hi Mary here,

Wow Wendy your layout is stunning, beautiful and precious. As always you have done a beautiful job and the addition of the tag with your Mum's handwriting & her message  made me teary , so, so , precious. I love the frame around your photo as well

INTRODUCING A NEW DESIGN TEAM MEMBER

Hello friends,

It is my pleasure to introduce to you a new member of our Design Team  , the lovely Cheryl. We are thrilled to have Cheryl as part of our team , here is a little about Cheryl

Hi everyone, Cheryl here.
I can’t begin to tell you how thrilled and  honoured  I feel to have been asked to be a part of Orange Paperie’s Design Team. This will be a first for me and needless to say, the old nerves are jangling.
Just a little bit about myself. I live in a tiny little hamlet in Southern N.S.W with hubby Dennis and Sally the dog. I have two daughters and four grandchildren ( two girls, two boys ) and it’s mostly the grandkids that I scrap about. Though  these days as they get older it gets harder to get pics of them, especially the two boys. I am sure you can all relate to that.
I  mainly scrap at home, and get my inspiration by visiting online forums and doing a bit of  blog hopping. I also find challenges are a great way to get the old mojo flowing.
I have made a lot of friends through scrapbooking and have been extremely fortunate to have met quite a few of them in real life. I think that’s part of the reason I love this hobby so much, you meet so many lovely people  along the way.
I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead .

Looking forward to Cheryl's first layout here when the new Challenge shall be revealed in the next couple of days by Annette. Until then
Have fun and Keep smiling
Mary
