Bec's Awesome Challenge

Now for me to share my mid-month
inspiration with you....

I am actually going to share with you 2 double
layouts!!!!

The first DOUBLE I am going to share with you
was created way back in early 2007
In the first 6 months I ventured into
Scrapbooking

 {Waiting For Hugo}
 2007
[I have only created 4 double layouts during the last 7 years]
and here is the layout double
I have created for
John's Challenge

 [My Exquisite Beauties]

Instead of using 12x12 pages I decided to go with two A4 papers
by Finnabair.

I do hope you are inspired to give
The DREADED DOUBLE
a go!

I look forward to seeing your creations

Cheers

July Challenge.

Hello Everyone,  John Here, Welcome to July, hard to believe the year is half over already.
Doesn't seem that long ago my little cherubs were opening their Christmas Pressies.

On with the Challenge for July,

A DOUBLE PAGE LAYOUT.

My challenge for you is to tackle the dreaded double. Myself, I like doing
double page layouts, but I know many either don't like them or are afraid
of them.

My Layout

"Easter Time Is Family Time"

For this Challenge you may either, Scraplift my layout, use my layout as
you would a sketch or create your own.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks John for the fantastic inspo & a great challenge. It's been a very long time since I've made a double page, so this brought back memories of when I first started scrapbooking years ago. This is a kit I purchased not long ago at Scrapbook Superstore in Penrith (MME Lost & Found record it!) all the glitter. I hope you have time to play along this month.

MID-MONTH REVEAL & SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!

Hello everyone, Jo here. It's time for our mid-month inspiration for Bec's tic-tac-toe challenge:

For this challenge I chose to make a card using Leaves-Orange-Embossing. A bit of vintage with a modern twist.

Also, we have a SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT - As you may have noticed we don't have sponsors for our challenge site. If you are a winner you will usually recieve a gift from the DT member who set the challenge for that month, at their own personal expense (scrapbooking products either new or hand made). Because of the high cost of sending international mail we have decided that if you are entering our challenges from outside of Australia, and you are a winner, you will be offered a GUEST DESIGNER SPOT
for the month following our announcement of the previous month's winner, in lieu of receiving a prize.
I hope we see lots more entries from our international followers as well as our local scrapbookers/card makers.

Next up is Kim with her fabulous inspiration.

Thanks Jo & how exciting!!!!
(Kim here...)
Firstly, Jo your card is totally STUNNING and just beautiful!
Now onto the challenge....
I really love Bec's June Challenge
I think it is a very clever one, with lots of combinations to choose from

I decided to go straight down the middle.....then to the left and UP!!!!
lol

 {Samantha & Rambo}

The buttons, flowers and the butterfly are all from
and the beautiful chippie is from

Thank you for stopping by
and we hope you get the chance to join us!

Orange Paperie June Challenge

Bec here at Orange Paperie & Co...

My first challenge... thought I had better make it a good one!
Something for everyone...
To get the creative sparks flying...
And a challenge with a lot of scope for interpretation!

My challenge for you is ...Tic Tac Toe

The table above has different scrapbooking elements for you to use on your layout
...but with Tic Tac Toe you must choose a line of the elements, whether it be Horizontal, Vertical or Diagonal.  This doesn't limit you to using any of the other elements or others you want to add but you must play the game by letting us know the line on the table you have chosen.

Now on to our GD for the month of June.
She is an inspiration to me and has welcomed me into her "Home"
Encouraged my talent and given me numerous ideas!

Heather Waldron
Heather is an amazingly talented scrapper and the founder of the Ning Community Scrapbooking Website
"Home and Scrapped"

Hiya, I’m Heather, a fifty something, life-long crafter, happily married with two grown kids. We live in Brisbane with our two cats – been here for four years and love it. I came from country NSW, lived in Scotland for a decade and then moved to coastal NSW before Brisbane. We seem to be itinerant, but it’s accidental, because I crave deep roots and a little cottage somewhere nice.

I love making things and, along with most of the women in my family, have been doing just that since childhood. For several years I was a dedicated quilter and designed upwards of a hundred projects for craft magazines like Handmade and Patchwork & Stitching and I had a business selling my patterns. My house was full of fabric and projects on the go and I loved doing it all. Never thought it would change.

And then I walked past a scrapbooking store about eight years ago. Well… I didn’t really walk past it, I was sucked into it by some mystical force and drooled my way around the shop in a delighted hungry daze. That was it for me, scrapbooking began to slowly but surely take over my creative life until I forgot that it was called a sewing room and started calling my space a scrap room.

I started initially because I wanted to tell the stories of my family. My children are both adopted and their stories kind of started with us. I wanted to give them a sense of belonging and history that didn’t really come with them when we met them, as there are no baby photos, no first moments. Scrapbooking fills that gap, with tangible evidence of their importance in the world.

My first efforts were satisfying and I’m still OK with them, but I really like the style that I eventually developed over the years, after attempting challenges on forums and blogs and stretching myself creatively.
I am a person who loves paper. (Apparently that’s papyrophilia.) I love colour and visual texture and I love tonal patterns rather than busy prints. When I scrap, I like to use scrappy bits and easy techniques that work together in some way. I’ve always been on a strict budget and that has dictated my style quite a bit I think.
Journaling is very important to me. I want my pages to tell the story whether I am there or not. The whole point of scrapbooking is to tell the story, to document the who, why, where and when of my photos and my feelings about it all too. Otherwise it’s just a pretty picture book.

I run a scrapbooking forum where there are monthly challenges http://homeandscrapped.ning.com/, and I have a sketch blog, http://scrapysketches.blogspot.com.au/. I also make flowers to sell sometimes. I love sketching and making flowers, it’s satisfies another part of my creativity that making cards and pages doesn’t quite reach. I love seeing how people interpret my sketches, and it’s also quite a buzz seeing my flowers on other people’s  pages.

I don’t consider myself a great scrapper, but I think I’m good enough, and good enough is just fine. My husband and kids like the stories and that’s what matters.
Heather Waldron

"Let us see how she tackled Tic Tac Toe...."
(Just Relax)
For this page I used the TTT line Punching-Orange-Cogs. My punching is fairly simple, mainly circles of different sizes, with a Stamping Up bird and a heart thrown into the mix. I also punched a partial circle from the smaller photo to allow the paper to peek through, and added another punched circle to that. The background is plain cream cardstock, swiped with gesso and spritzed with orange glimmer mist. I then used a pen and my glue lid to ink some circles onto the background in two colours, and added a couple of circle stamps for good measure. I love to use up scraps for my pages, and here I have used really small scrappy bits in orange and chocolate. I then added the journaling paper and embellishments that include cogs, a bottle cap, bling and brads. I love sneaking a little bling onto my masculine pages.
The photos are of my lovely husband of 26 years!
****************************************************************
Absolutely Beautiful as usual!!!

Heather has also kindly made something for the winner of this challenge.
This is an example of her amazing flowers as she mentioned above that she sells from her blog, go across to check them out. The papers are all quality & acid free, and the items are all loose so that they can be arranged however the recipient wants.  Stunning!

Thank you Heather for being my Guest Designer.
Even reading your bio myself has given me an insight into your world that even I haven't seen before.  Beautiful lady!

My layout for Tic Tac Toe

(till there was you)

The line of elements I used was a vertical one of Twine, Cogs and Embossing.
My two gorgeous nephews, having fun in a playhouse.

The June Challenge being relaesed on the 5th of June means I should wish my youngest nephew in the photo, Nathaniel, a very Happy 3rd Birthday!

Mary and John join me on this blog post.
Jo and Kim will give us some mid month inspiration.
****************************************************

A big Warm Welcome to Heather and such a great take on the Tic, Tac, Toe and thank you for the gorgeous tag for the winner of the challenge, a lucky person is going to love that ! and Bec what a super Cute layout. Love how it looks like they are looking out of the layout and gorgeous colour scheme and fabulous challenge you have set.
I think I ended up using most of the elements in the end.
I have used chippy frame, butterflies and embossing, but I also have stamping, twine and Orange.

ENJOY LIFE

Now I hand you over to John with his take on Bec's Challenge

*******************************************
Hi Again & welcome to another month, and what a great challenge
Bec has set for us. Thank you to Heather for joining us this Month.
What lovely layouts to inspire us.

I have also used the Twine, Cogs and Embossing.

 (Double Trouble)

These are my little boys with their lovely smiles.
Hope you all find the time to join us this month.
**********************************************

Just had to pop back and say I saw John's layout in real life today and the embossed background is so stunning ! and very clever. Sometimes photo's just don't do a layout justice.  Looking forward to seeing the entries  ~ Mary

Kim's May Challenge

Welcome everyone to our little Challenge Blog!!!

With the start of May, we see a few changes..... as most of you know
two member's of our Design Team made the decision to move on, so Mary, Jo and myself
set out to find Two new Design Team Member's

And we did!!!!

We give you

Rebecca Timms

Here is a little bit about Bec.
Hi, I'm Bec Timms, I live in Orange N.S.W with my partner,
Charlie. Originally from Southampton in the UK, we moved to Australia in the New Year of 2011.
I started scrapbooking in Nov 2012 when the lovely Mary Bennetts started classes at Marally Craft, the store I worked at.
I had met Mary, Kim and Annette as regular customers of the store and had always been interested in their purchases, as primarily I am a card maker.
And have been card making throughout my 20’s.
The Orange Paperie girls started me on a journey of techniques, blogs and challenges, even helped answer my questions such as, “what is a sketch?”
Since then I have discovered a love for sketches, they are a perfect inspiration point with the ability to tweak anything to your personal style.  I love that every layout made from a sketch can be completely different and personal to the creator.
I love bright colours, washi tape, and chippies.  My favourite scrappy website is Home and Scrapped as it’s very welcoming and relaxed.  My muses in my scrapbooking pages are my nephews Isaac (4) and Nathaniel (2).  They mean absolutely everything to me and one of my ways to stay in touch with them, is to scrap their gorgeous faces on my layouts.
Visit Rebecca's blog.......* HERE*
and we also welcome

John Weston

Hi, I'm John Weston and I live in Orange N.S.W with my wife and two sons who are the reason why I scrap. Have been kind of scrapbooking since 2010 when my wife bought an album that I would stick one photo along with a ticket or certificate from when it was taken. Then I met Bec from Marally Craft who talked me into taking Mary's class. They started me on a journey of techniques, blogs and challenges for which I will always be grateful
I love to layer paper on my pages as well as try different techniques.
You can visit John's Blog......* HERE *
A very warm welcome to Rebbeca & John.
Now on to May's Challenge.....
My Challenge is to use these images to inspire you to create, whether it's the colours, products....
 from the first image

This image is by the very talented
And to use this quote in some fashion....be it the whole Quote or even just a word or two from it!

Here is what I have created.....inspired by the above images

{Friendship}
The colours in Gwen's photograph really struck me and I simply love the Quote
Now let's see what our newest DT member's have created....
**********************************************************************************

Hi everyone. Happy to be with  my first DT Layout. Very honoured to be working with a very talented group of Ladies.  Hope I can keep up with everyone, all such beautiful work.

What a lovely challenge Kim has set us, with Gwen's beautiful Picture.

I Have draw my inspiration from some of the products in the picture & I liked the way the twine looked against the pink flowers & used the first part of the quote.

{Everyday Is Beautiful}

**********************************************************************************

Here is Rebecca's stunning layout......

{Even When It's Raining}

**************************************************************
Welcome to the team John and Bec, what beautiful layouts .
I took my inspiration from the quote and lovely colours and splash of gold in Gwen's beautiful photo

{Everyday is Beautiful }

Looking forward to seeing lots of lovely entries
Mary

***********************************************************************************

Hi all! Jo here. I just love the challenge that Kim has set for this month. Beautiful work Mary, John, and Bec. I love your interpretations. I took my inspo from the softness of the colours of the mood board, the quote & also the washi tape & flowers. You can go HERE for closies.

 {Beautiful}

So we hope you can find the time to join us this month
and hope you have been inspired

April Challenge

Hello all! Jo here. My turn to set the challenge for this month, which is Autumn for us here in Oz and I'm sure all of you who live in the Northern Hemisphere are very excited that Spring is finally here. My challenge this month is CIRCLES AND FLOURISHES.
I'm very excited to introduce to you our very special friend and this month's Guest Designer ....

BEC TIMMS (someone who hales from the UK but, lucky for us, is now an honorary Aussie). Thank you Bec for sharing some inspo with us and I'm sure everyone will love how you've tackled the challenge.

Hi, I'm Bec Timms, I live in Orange N.S.W with my partner, Charlie.
I have recently scrapped with Jo and Cheryl and enjoyed meeting them very much.
In fact the layout I have completed for Aprils’ OP Challenge is of my youngest nephew walking through a field of lavender.
Thank you Jo for thinking of me to be your GD this month, I feel very honoured as I admire all you ladies very much!!!
And here is Bec's stunning layout:

I love the stencil work on this page & that beautiful photo within the pretty circle frame is perfect for our theme. Thanks Bec. For closies and more info pop over to Bec's blog HERE

In total contrast to what Bec has come up with, here is my inspo for the challenge. This is what I love about challenges, the very different ideas that everyone has. I hope you like it.

I've chosen to use large chipboard cogs for my circles as well as clocks. My flourishes are the die cut leafy swirls. For closies and info about the other techniques I've used go to my blog HERE

Next up is our lovely Mary. Over to you Mare...

Wow hard acts to follow!
Thank you Bec for being our GD this month, such a beautiful , soft, delicate layout for such a gorgeous photo. Just the right amount of soft , sweet touches.
and Jo Such a gorgeous masculine layout of your beautiful Tim. Love the weathered board and title.

BUSTER

Vintage with a twist

Hi everyone, well I made it just in time (actually have a nearly two weeks before this challenge is finished) so I'm not going too bad.
I would like to share with you all a very precious page, it has a pic of my parents in their early twenties, so would have been taken mid to late 1959 or early 1960. I adore this pic so much, how young and in love they look, unfortunately they have both passed (much before their time) and the marriage didn't last but I will always have this pic capturing a lovely moment.

Used lots of stamping (all Kasiercraft) as are the flowers, except for the small cream ones (they are from Craft Queen along with the pink pearl strands and ribbons), rhinestone flourish and small lemon and green pearls. Some gorgeous Scrapmatts chippies and wooden words.

Now on a sad note this will be my last post for Paperie, stepping down from the DT, a bit of a break is needed but I will still be popping in to see how things are going and maybe do a challenge or too.
I would like to thankyou all for your support and encouragement over the past, nearly two years.
Hugs and love
Annette xo

GREAT CHALLENGE

Hi all Annette here, haven't quite been able to do a page for this challenge but perhaps a late month one could occur yet. Would like to thank Cheryl for her challenge, fantastic idea to scrap a vintage page with non traditional colours, makes one think and also for having  JOHN WESTON as our Guest Designer, it is nice to see a male take on what has been predominately a female hobby.
Keep your entries coming in, we LOVE seeing what you are doing, inspires us as well.
Until next time
Hugs and love
